IS SRI LANKA SAFE TO VISIT AS THEY CLAIM TO BE?

Did you know that tourism was one of the main streams of revenue even when a civil war was going on? Yes! You read that right! That was more than a DECADE AGO! Now why did everyone started asking, “Is Sri Lanka safe to travel?” again!

Is it the pandemic? Let’s find out!

PANDEMIC STATUS

As of the day this blog is written, (5th Dec 2022) Sri Lanka has had ONLY 8 active cases of Coronavirus. (In case you want to check it again ). The Sri Lankan Government has also made wearing masks optional.

If it is not the pandemic, then what is it?

TERRORISM?

Sri Lanka ended the civil war that prevailed for 30 years in 2009 (well that is 13 years ago!). Easter day bombing? Well, that happened in 2019 which means that this event is 3 years old!

INSURGENCIES AND UNREST

Briefly in 2022, there was a protest organized island wide to stand against the corrupted politicians and governance. It was a non-violent protest where people expressed their ideas through holding boards along the road and camping outside the President’s office.

Does this sound alarming to you?

However, with the appointment of the new President these protests gradually subsided.

ECONOMIC CRISIS

Do you think Sri Lanka is the only country going through an economic crisis? Most of the countries are struggling to stay afloat during this recession.

SHORTAGE OF FOOD AND MEDICINE

Does this mean that there are no food and no medicine? NO! This simply means you will find less amounts of imported food brands in supermarkets for a while and it might not be easy to find certain types of medicine but guaranteed that all of the pharmacies will have the basic medicines required.

EXPENSES

Yes! The prices might have increased, but doesn’t that happen all over the world?
You’d be surprised to see the level of hospitality you would get for the few $$$ you spend here!

PRICELESS HOSPITALITY! Che out our travel packages to see the pricing details.

IS THE MEDIA LYING ABOUT THE STATUS OF SRI LANKA?

Well, doesn’t the media love the attention?

Exaggerating the actual situation is what media love to do. “No food and medicine in Sri Lanka” seem catchier than explaining how importing luxury brands would be limited. Don’t you think?

To give a simple answer – Yes, Sri Lanka is safe to visit but you could always enhance your experience with trustworthy travel partners like Travitus.
